Comfort Foods To Make When You Need a Warm Feeling

If you’ve got the winter blues, you might as well eat comfort foods.  These are our comfort foods to make when need a little warm feeling!  Satisfy you’re comfort food cravings and get through the end of this cold weather. Brrrr!  Here are the comfort foods to make:

Everybody’s favorite HOMEMADE BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE!  Warm and soothing

  • 2 cups Macaroni
  • ¼ cup Butter
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 3 tbsp Flour
  • 2 cups Cheddar

DIRECTIONS:  Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Butter a baking dish.  Cook macaroni and set aside.  Melt butter and then add flour.  Then add milk and stir.  Add salt and pepper.  Add the Cheddar Cheese and stir till melted.  (We use sharp cheddar cheese and add a little parmesan cheese!!  This makes it so creamy and comfy!)  Mix in macaroni.  Pour into an oven ready pan and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.  Bake until top is crunchy, 25-30 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes.

GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH AND TOMATO SOUP GROWN UP style!  Crunchy and warms the belly.

  • 2 pcs per sandwich-Bread of your choice
  • 2-4 slices depending on how thick the bread is. Cheese of your choice (We recommend using more than one kind of cheese!)
  • Butter
  • Mayonnaise

DIRECTIONS:  Spread one side of two pieces of bread with a little bit of mayonnaise.  Add butter and heat over MED heat. Swirl to coat the bottom of the skillet with the melted butter.  Add both pieces of bread, mayonnaise side down, and cook until bread is golden brown and crunchy, about 2-3 minutes.  As soon as you add the bread to the skillet, add a bit of cheese to the top of each piece of bread.  When the bread is good and golden brown, sandwich the pieces of bread together and cook on LOW until cheese is fully melted.

Velvety and delicious tomato soup Ingredients:

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 15- oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 10- oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil finely chopped
  • 2 cloves large garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth or vegetable stock to make it vegetarian
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream

DIRECTIONS:  Grab your crock pot!  Add the butter, broth, onion, basil, garlic, salt, pepper, heavy cream and tomatoes and canned tomato sauce. See how creamy it gets? That’s thanks to the butter.  Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours (although it can be done on high for 2 hours as well). Stir occasionally and scrape down the sides (if you can).  40 minutes before serving, transfer soup to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Return to crockpot.   Adjust the soup for seasoning then grab a bowl…and that grown up grilled cheese sandwich?
